Hedge & Screen Planting

From €720

Boundary planting to soften walls, filter wind, and add privacy

Living screens for Cork gardens

Party walls, boundary fences, and exposed rear edges often need more than a timber panel. Our hedge and screen planting plans use native and naturalised species to create living barriers that filter harbour wind, add privacy, and support local biodiversity.

We specify mixed native hedgerows—hawthorn, holly, spindle, and guelder rose—or evergreen screens of Portuguese laurel and yew, depending on aspect, height requirement, and how much light you need to preserve.

What's included

  • Boundary planting plan (PDF)
  • Species schedule with spacing
  • Height and spread projections
  • Wind-filtering placement notes

Planting options

Native mixed hedgerow

Hawthorn, holly, spindle, and guelder rose planted in staggered rows—a traditional Irish boundary that supports birds and insects.

Evergreen screen

Portuguese laurel, yew, or Griselinia for year-round privacy along party walls and rear boundaries.

Layered shrub planting

Lower shrubs—euonymus, osmanthus, pittosporum—beneath taller screens to create depth without blocking light.

Combine with a full redesign

Hedge screens work well alongside city garden redesigns or as a standalone package. Our Complete Garden Programme (€4,800) includes boundary planting with full layout planning.
